The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy invites applicants for Department Chair and a 12-month, non-tenure or tenure track faculty appointment at the level of Associate/Full Professor to provide leadership and critical day-to-day operational support for more than 20 faculty members and staff. The Chair represents the department in relations with other departments, with College Deans, with other administrative officers of the University, OU Health Pharmacy, and with affiliated institutions. The Chair is responsible for internal and external collaborations to promote core missions and strategic planning within research, education, and service areas for the department. The Chair is expected to encourage and facilitate the work, quality, professional development, and advancement of the department, in conjunction with the Vice Chair. The Chair is the immediate supervisor of faculty within the department and is expected to maintain a high standard of performance and to ensure that department personnel comply with University, Health Sciences, college, and departmental policies. The Chair has a fundamental responsibility for obtaining merited recognition of faculty and supporting their career development. The Chair provides leadership in all matters of policy as determined by the faculty, Dean, and Senior Vice President and Provost. The Chair will also engage in teaching, scholarship and service in areas of expertise and interest. OUHS is a comprehensive academic health science center with seven professional colleges, affiliated hospitals, clinics, and research institutes on the Oklahoma City campus.

Candidates must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited program, with or without a social and administrative sciences Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. A candidate must have completed a pharmacy practice (PGY1) and specialty (PGY2) residency (and/or fellowship) in appropriate areas of pharmacy practice if the candidate has a Doctor of Pharmacy degree without a PhD. Candidates must be eligible to obtain an unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in Oklahoma and a preceptor license. Preferred qualifications include prior academic administrative leadership experience, having attained the rank of Professor, board-certification in respective practice area(s), post-graduate degree(s) in applicable area(s), and diverse pharmacy practice and leadership experiences. Preference will be given to evidence of effective teaching and mentoring of students, a proven record of advancing faculty teams (such as interprofessional endeavors and strategic planning), and a record of research accomplishments, including extramural grant funding and scholarly dissemination. Candidates must pass a criminal background check. Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with experience. Applications will be received until the position is filled.
