Basic functions and scope of responsibilities: 

  • Conduct annual evaluations of faculty and provide faculty support for reappointment/promotion during the tenure and promotion process 
  • Engage with faculty and staff to enhance mentorship within the College 
  • Oversee the establishment of goals, objectives, and policies for the College of Pharmacy 
  • Responsible for operations and organizational effectiveness of all academic and assigned administrative units 
  • Provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of the College’s strategic initiatives and operations 
  • Collaborate as needed with the division chairs to draft faculty workloads (teaching) 
  • Handles sabbatical leave requests and other leaves of absence, vacation schedule, Outside Professional Activity forms, service assignments, purchase orders, meeting, and travel approvals 
  • Oversee agreements and collaborations with affiliates, partners, and otherinstitutions 
  • Serve as liaison between the College of Pharmacy and the University (deans, departments, and senior leadership) 
  • Set stipend and tuition waiver levels as allowed 
  • Work with faculty to develop programs for advancement of the faculty, promoting contemporary pedagogical approaches, faculty academic success and well-being 
  • In collaboration with the faculty facilitate the development, implementation, assessment, and revision the didactic andexperiential curriculum for the PharmD program 
  • Develop, implement, assess, and revise the curriculum, including course development, mentoring of course coordinators, adjunct faculty, assessment, and other activities related to the graduate program 
  • Support the Office of Assessment and the Associate Dean of Assessment 
  • Develop and manage assigned budgets 
  • Conduct classroom faculty observations to identify physical, technical, and educational resources needed to support optimal student learning 
  • Engage in scholarly activities in areas of interest and expertise 
  • Receive and address questions, complaints, grievances, and suggestions from members of the College, both academic and staff personnel, and from students; take appropriate action as required 
  • Work with the Assistant Dean for Student and Professional Affairs to prepare schedule of courses that assures appropriate and effective use of College and University facilities and resources in teaching and learning 
  • Work with the Coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Certificate Program to assess and revise the teaching certificate program as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean 

Requirements:

  • Distinguished leadership experience with substantial administrative experience and a record of scholarly achievement in teaching or research and/or accomplishments in practice.
  • A demonstrated record and strong commitment to pharmacy education andadvancing diversity 
  • Proven success or aptitude for relating positively with students, faculty, pharmacy practitioners, alumni, pharmaceutical industry representatives, pharmacyassociation leaders, the business community, and state and local government officials 
  • The ability to lead, support, develop, and recruit a distinguished, accomplished,and diverse faculty
  • The ability to manage budgets, projects, and allocated resources and prioritize goals 
  • Exceptional social and interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills 
  • Credentials that merit appointment at the rank of full professor
