Description

Position Summary: The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining clinical pharmacy programs across the hospital. He/she will provide oversight and guidance on medication use quality assurance and compliance with emphasis on patient safety; develop and revise policies and procedures to optimize drug utilization and medication safety while meeting accreditation standards and regulations; ensure initial and ongoing competency-based assessment of pharmacists clinical practice; and provide leadership for various clinical education programs for students, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.

The Clinical Coordinators primary responsibilities include clinical staff education, and coordination of drug use evaluation (DUE), assists in the development and implementation of new and existing clinical pharmacy services. Works in a multidisciplinary group through committee involvement for creation of clinical practice guidelines and hospital policies. The Clinical Coordinator will also assist in departmental performance improvement and compliance with DNV standards.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Identifies and meets staff development needs for the department;
  • Develops and presents therapeutic class reviews for medical staff review to include utilization, financial analysis, contract compliance, safety and efficiency;
  • Provides oversight on Formulary Review Process for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee; provides oversight of the Antimicrobial Stewardship program for the Center
  • Directs and coordinates the pharmacy practice rotations with colleges of pharmacy and serves as a preceptor;
  • Develops and revises medication related policies and procedures and clinical practice guidelines to assure department meets requirements of Board of Pharmacy, DNV, and legal regulatory requirements;
  • Coordinates Medication Use Evaluations;
  • Represents the pharmacy department on multi-disciplinary committees to assure appropriate medication use and responsible fiscal management of therapies.
  • Coordinates and manages pharmacist intervention programs;
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

Experience
  • Required: 3-5 years previous hospital pharmacy experience in a clinical role
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a Clinical Coordinator role, or similar that included pharmacy leadership and educational experience

Education
  • Required: PharmD, or equivalent from an ACPE accredited school pharmacy
  • Preferred: Completion of a PGY-1 Residency Program

License and Credentials
  • Required: Current New Jersey license to practice pharmacy. Current BLS and ACLS, or obtained within 6 months of hire. BPS certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Preferred: Current NJ Immunization License; PALS

Skills
  • Required: Computer literacy and good working knowledge of MSOffice products; strong analytical ability; good communication and interpersonal skills including leadership, teamwork, discretion, and tact; good organizational and time-management skills
  • Preferred: Familiarity with of Meditech EHR platform a plus

Bi-weekly Hours: 80 hours per pay period.
