The Adult Critical Care Decentralized Pharmacist will practice as the clinical lead in the new 9 bed Adult MedSurg ICU at the WakeMed North Hospital. The ICU Clinical Pharmacist will round with a multidisciplinary ICU team to provide comprehensive medication management for adult ICU patients. This position will cover the adult critical care patients as well as stepdown/floor patients. 

The Adult Critical Care decentralized pharmacist provides specialized pharmaceutical services to ensure safe, effective, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients presenting to adults presenting to the critical care units. The Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical services safely, accurately, and timely by reviewing physician's orders, dispensing drugs, and providing drug information to other health professionals, according to established procedures. The clinical pharmacist  position requires a close and effective working relationship with other departments in the health system. Opportunities to precept pharmacy students and residents and work on interdisciplinary projects.

Required Qualifications: BS Pharmacy; or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm D) Post graduate year 1 [PGY1] in Pharmacy Practice

Preferred Qualifications:  Post graduate year 2 [PGY2] in Critical Care or equivalent clinical experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed Pharmacist Required

Hours of Work: 7am - 3:30pm (day shift only)

Weekend Requirements: Every 3rd

Call requirements: As needed

The pharmacy department provides decentralized clinical services to all inpatients and works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses throughout the institution to provide care to patients with a diverse range of clinical problems. WakeMed Health & Hospitals offers a blend of both structured teaching services with medical residents from the WakeMed Health & Hospital program, University of North Carolina School of Medicine program, and medical students from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as multidisciplinary rounding services. Services with traditional medical teaching rounds include internal medicine, general pediatrics, and pediatric ICU. Services with multidisciplinary rounds include cardiothoracic ICU, cardiovascular ICU, Medicine ICU, Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU, cardiovascular intermediate care/heart failure, antimicrobial stewardship, and hospital acquired infection prevention rounds.
