Job Details

The Department of Pharmacy in the UW School of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time 100% FTE, 12-month service period, tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This position will specialize in one of the following priority areas: cell and gene therapy, precision medicine, rare and ultra rare diseases, pediatrics, cardiology, obstetrics, or pain management.

Duties and Responsibilities  

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Support the Department and School's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as contribute to the larger service mission of the School of Pharmacy and the UW.

Actively contribute to instruction in the PharmD curriculum which focuses on preparing pharmacist providers who are practice-ready in Washington State’s innovative and permissive pharmacy practice environment.

Support the training mission facilitated by a new Health Sciences Education Building, a state-of-the-art interprofessional space for training future health professionals.

Develop and/or maintain an externally funded, independent research/scholarship program at a top-tier R1 research university, resulting in peer-reviewed publications and other scientific communications

The individual in this position will join a diverse department (50 faculty with over 400 adjunct, affiliate, and clinical faculty) with nationally and internationally recognized clinical, policy and research experts. The University of Washington has been perennially ranked in the top three public universities for federal research funding. The faculty received $1.87 billion in sponsored research in FY2023. The School of Pharmacy ranks #3 in the U.S. for total research funding per faculty member. Our faculty received 67 grants and awards in 2021 totaling more than $24 million. Pharmacy faculty received $130 million in research support over the most recent 6-year period. The Chronicle for Higher Education ranked the UW School of Pharmacy research programs as “best in the nation” based on faculty scholarship.

Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the University of Washington are unparalleled. The UW has six, world-class health sciences schools (dentistry, nursing, medicine, pharmacy, public health, and social work), four affiliated hospitals, as well as the NIH-funded CTSA Institute of Translational Health Sciences. The base salary range for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor will be $9,450 - $14,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The base salary range for this position at the rank of Associate Professor will be $11,500 - $16,780 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a PharmD or PhD (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution in a relevant field.

 

Understanding of and instructional ability in one of the department priority areas noted above. This understanding and instructional ability may be gained through residency, fellowship, other postgraduate training or equivalent research experience, or demonstrated by sustained research productivity and publication record or teaching in PharmD or graduate courses.
