 The Department of Pharmacy & Therapeutics of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is accepting applications for the position of full-time Tenured Professor and department Chair. The Department Chair is an administrative officer of the school who participates in the Leadership Team of the School. The school is seeking a highly motivated and innovative pharmacist to lead approximately 49 primary faculty and 86 adjunct faculty. The Chair is responsible for advancing the education, practice, and science discovery of pharmacy as well as collaborations with other University of Pittsburgh Schools and partners. The Chair will serve as the liaison with ASHP for residency accreditation of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and is also responsible for collaboration with the Senior Director of Pharmacy Services of UPMC to ensure a vision for the delivery of high-quality care of patients. Importantly, the department also has critical partnerships throughout community pharmacy practice and the incumbent will continue to build and advance connections and collaboratively lead practice transformation. A strong sense of commitment and objective achievement in scientific discovery to advance pharmacy-based clinical outcomes and scholarly teaching are essential. We have a culture of excellence, innovation, inclusion, and leadership so these are foundational attributes required of the next chair.    

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE  

 

Minimum Qualifications:   

Hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (or equivalent degree) with strong academic credentials expected for appointment to meet the criteria of a tenured professor at the University of Pittsburgh.  

Have a distinguished record of research, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as an Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Pittsburgh.  

Significant leadership experience in higher education.  

A demonstrated record in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion activities in research, teaching, and service.  

 

 Preferred Qualifications:  

An outstanding track record of expertise as demonstrated by extramural funding, publications, mentoring, engagement, and leadership in the field of pharmacy.  

A strong background in the development and oversight of educational programs to train the next generation of pharmacists.  

A consistent record of successful leadership, fiscal and program management, and fundraising.  

A strategic vision for short- and long-term development of the department that supports the goals of current faculty, the School of Pharmacy, and the University of Pittsburgh.  

Proven success in mentoring and training junior faculty members to support success including competitive funding and promotion.  

Demonstrated success in leading large groups through delegation, communication, and accountability for academic achievement.  

A shared commitment to the core values of the School which include communication, accountability, innovation, action, and equity.  

Experience in creating a collaborative, positive, and productive work environment for all faculty, staff, trainees, and partners.
