The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy seeks to fill a 12-month non-tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Division of Pharmacy Practice. The faculty member will be primarily responsible for teaching and/or coordinating integrated courses related to pharmacy practice, skills-based laboratory courses, and other assigned PharmD course content within the School of Pharmacy. Expectations will include developing and maintaining a clinical practice site to facilitate experiential training of APPE students.

Duties and Responsibilities (approximate percent allocations of effort provided):

Teaching (50-60%):

Direction, coordination, and delivery of pharmacy practice content integrated within the School of Pharmacy curriculum. Pertinent topics include general/internal medicine, sterile and/or non-sterile compounding with associated pharmacy calculations, and pharmacy practice skills. Additional teaching responsibilities assigned may encompass a broad range of pharmacy practice areas based on skill and experience level.

Clinical practice (20-30%):

Development and implementation of a collaborative pharmacy practice site is an expectation of this position. The successful candidate will also serve as a preceptor for experiential training of PharmD students.

Scholarship (10%):

Successful candidates for this position will be engaged in development of scholarly materials. Expectations include presentation at local, regional, and/or national meetings as well as contribution of other scholarly works in the candidate’s research interest area.

Service (10%):

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in School, Department, and/or University committees. In addition, the candidate will be expected to provide student mentoring as well as advisement to a student professional organization.

Minimum Requirements:

Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent in practice-based experience.

Prior teaching experience with pharmacy students or trainees.

3-5 years work related experience.

Proficiency in teaching, organization skills, communication skills, and presentation skills.

Preferred:

Prior experience and training in pharmacy practice areas with provision of direct patient care services that include general/internal medicine, medication therapy management, or sterile and/or nonsterile compounding are preferred. Post-graduate residency training (PGY1, PGY2 residency) and/or teaching experience within a school of pharmacy is preferred.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
