Pharmacy Manager – New Arrowhead Hospital

Opportunity to help establish and lead Pharmacy Services at our new Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale, AZ. The Arrowhead Pharmacy Services Manager is responsible for managing daily operational and clinical activities of the Arrowhead Inpatient Pharmacy along with pharmacy oversight for the West Valley specialty clinics, urgent cares, and infusion center. Directly manages clinical pharmacists, interns, pharmacy technicians, and students. This position is responsible for all human resource (HR) management functions of direct reports. As the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), this individual is responsible for working with other pharmacy leaders to prioritize, plan and appropriately allocate resources needed to meet key departmental and facility initiatives. This position reports directly to the West Valley Associate Chief Nursing Officer while receiving supervision from the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations and the Director of Clinical Pharmacy, Education, and Research.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively leads daily inpatient pharmacy operations to maintain department quality control, regulatory compliance, and safe medication management. Ensures appropriate staffing levels to provide safe and effective patient care. Plans, executes, and supports the pharmacy strategy of Phoenix Children`s throughout Arrowhead and the West Valley. Provides guidance and direction to pharmacy staff to assist them in their professional development Monitors and is accountable for the inpatient pharmacy compliance with all state and federal regulations. Leads the development, implementation, and execution of departmental goals. Provides day-to-day clinical and operational support of the Arrowhead CCBD & Infusion Center. Actively participates in departmental education activities to support the development and advancement of clinical pharmacists, residents, interns, and students. Acts as liaison between the pharmacy, medical, nursing and hospital staff for issues pertaining to Arrowhead pharmacy services. Effectively communicates concerns, addresses patient needs and relays pertinent information to enhance continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) or Doctoral Degree (Pharm.D) in Pharmacy. Completion of a post-graduate year 1 (PGY-1) or PGY-2 in pediatrics pharmacy residency program accredited by ASHP or similar experience. Preferred. Five years of operations, clinical, or administrative pharmacy practice in acute care setting or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in acute care, advanced practice training or equivalent. Current licensure or eligibility as a pharmacist either by reciprocity or examination by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
