The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin is dedicated to providing exemplary education, training, research, and professional development for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) students, graduate students, and postgraduates; to advance discovery, innovation, and patient care. To help advance this mission, we are seeking a distinguished applicant to fill one professional-track (non-tenure), clinical faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or professor (depending on qualifications) for a full-time Ambulatory Care clinical faculty member. This position is in San Antonio, Texas in our Division of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Science and will be co-funded by University Health, an academic health system in San Antonio, Texas with a practice site at one of its community ambulatory clinics. Additionally, pharmacotherapy division faculty are jointly appointed to UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine.

The successful applicant will lecture, facilitate practice laboratories, and supervise clinical clerkships for students in the Pharm.D. program. Clinical service that supports resident and Pharm.D. student education and the mission of University
Health is expected, and faculty members will be expected to provide service to the college, health system, university, and broader professional community. The primary focus of this position is to provide clinical drug therapy management for
patients with chronic diseases and promote safe and efficacious use of medications in the ambulatory care setting, particularly for patients who are on multiple medications and whose disease processes are not well controlled, and patients who over utilize the Emergency Department or are frequently hospitalized due to chronic diseases. The expectation over time is to develop collaborative practice agreements with the physicians of the clinic to allow for direct patient management of preventable and chronic diseases by a pharmacist. The faculty member will be expected to supervise pharmacy students and residents to help them learn to care for patients with acute and chronic conditions. The successful individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with tenure track and non-tenure-track faculty on research and scholarship.

Candidates must have an earned Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy, be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas, have successfully completed a specialty practice residency or equivalent experience by the start date, and be able to demonstrate effective teaching.
