The UIC College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to UI Health’s Hematology/Oncology services.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the areas of hematology and oncology in the hospital and on-site clinics at the University of Illinois Hospital. The hospital is a 450-bed academic institution located approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves an urban, indigent patient population. It is among a select group of medical centers accredited by the Commission on Cancer. Cancer services at UI Health comprises several programs committed to diagnosing and treating common and rare cancers including breast, colorectal, gynecologic, head & neck, hematology/blood, lung and other cancers.

Duties:
The hematology and oncology clinical pharmacist team consists of 5 pharmacists who are integral members of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital and clinics. The Clinical Pharmacist duties includes medication review and reconciliation, medication selection and dosing recommendations, TPN management, immunosuppression and infectious disease prophylaxis selection, management of nausea and pain, therapeutic drug monitoring, provision of drug information, and patient education. The candidate will also be responsible for nurse, physician, and pharmacy staff development; coordinating and conducting quality initiative projects and developing collaborative treatment and research protocols.
The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well. Academic rank commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
Must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by start date.
Completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency required.
Completion of Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency or 2-3 years of equivalent clinical experience as a clinical pharmacist in hematology and oncology is required.
Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy.
Highly preferred strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
