Job Summary

The Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Tyler invites qualified candidates to join the Clinical Department faculty. Appointments are co-funded positions with UT Health for 12 months (9-month faculty appointment plus 3-month summer supplement) and clinical non-tenure-track positions at an open rank. We are seeking qualified clinical pharmacy candidates for the following specialty areas: ambulatory care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, inpatient cardiology, and/or outpatient oncology.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, student-centered academic Pharm.D. program. Courses are taught using an active learning environment that values personal and professional growth and the development of each student. The curriculum emphasizes self-directed learning, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork.

The start date for the position is flexible. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Contribute to developing and delivering the clinical pharmacy curriculum. Advise students. Service activities. Engagement in research and scholarship. Establishing and developing a viable practice site for IPPE / APPE rotation students. Teaching responsibilities include developing and implementing active learning modules, didactic lectures, skills lab, and course coordination. The position also requires practicing within UT Health System in the candidate's area of specialty and precepting students.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. or equivalent terminal degree. Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Current Texas Registered Pharmacist Licensure (or eligibility for Texas licensure).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a PGY-2 residency and professional board certification in a specialty area.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
