Director of Pharmacy
McLaren Thumb Region Hospital

As a full-time, exempt CPS Solutions, LLC Director of Pharmacy at McLaren Thumb Region Hospital, you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed-upon programs. The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the continued growth, development, and implement operational systems that support the safe delivery of pharmaceutical care with the assistance of a full support team.

Schedule: This position is scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week with some possible on call.

Facility: McLaren Thumb Region Hospital is a 58-bed acute care, not for profit hospital in Huron County and is the only hospital in the tri-county area (Huron, Sanilac, and Tuscola) providing obstetrical and oncology services. The Emergency Department is open 24/7 and is staffed with onsite Emergency Medicine physicians and experienced emergency room staff.  CPS Solutions, LLC has partnered with the hospital to manage the day-to-day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS Solutions, LLC.

Pharmacy: The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 5:00pm and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8am to 1pm.  This centralized pharmacy currently utilizes CPSI with an upcoming conversion to Cerner on the horizon.  Current clinical programs and services include the Karmanos Infusion (Oncology) Center, Pharmacist managed Anticoagulation services, Antimicrobial Stewardship as well as renal/hepatic dosing.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current Michigan Pharmacist license in good standing 3-5 years of recent experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting
  • At least 2 years of previous management experience in a hospital/healthcare environment is preferred
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Good communications skills Demonstrated customer service skills 
  • Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in a work setting  

Hospital Requirements (may be required):

  • (PPD) TB Skin Test - Proof of negative TB skin test within the last 12 months
  • MMR) Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or A Blood Titer proving immunity
  • Varicella - (2) documented doses or A Blood Titer proving immunity
  • (Flu) Influenza-required for hire between Oct 1st-April 30th
  • Respirator FIT Mask Test
  • COVID Vaccine
