Position Description:
Inpatient pediatric pharmacist position at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. In this role, the pharmacist provides exceptional care to pediatric patients in a setting that supports ongoing multidisciplinary learning and advancement of practice. Decentral clinical services consist of collaborative practice with multidisciplinary teams, identification of drug-related problems, provision and documentation of recommendations through progress notes regarding optimization of drug therapy, admission and discharge medication reconciliation, transition of care planning and direct patient care. The pharmacist will work with a variety of pediatric interdisciplinary teams including: Pediatric Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and General Pediatrics.
Job Responsibilities include assessment of medication therapy regimens, medication therapy management, medication order verification/entry, medication distribution, medication monitoring and consultation, documentation of medication therapy plans, and medication use education and pharmaceutical care services. Precepting of Mayo Clinic pharmacy and other disciplines’ learners is expected.
Involvement in scholarly activities including quality initiatives and multidisciplinary research is encouraged and supported through extensive institutional and departmental resources. Opportunity for academic appointment at hiring and progression through appointment ranks through achievement.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or equivalent experience.
**Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; also, Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program**
Additional Qualifications:
Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and teamwork required. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organize time well, practice with an agile mindset, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision required.
The following are preferred:
Previous experience including PGY1 plus 1 year experience in pediatrics, PGY2 training in pediatrics, or equivalent experience of 3 years in clinical practice in pediatrics
Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment
Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting
Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations
Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPPS)
License or certification:
License to practice Pharmacy in the State of Minnesota or eligibility for licensure.
