The Assistant/Associate Dean for the Florida Pathway is responsible for promoting and nourishing a harmonious working environment where learning is encouraged, innovative ideas are welcomed, and a collegial atmosphere prevails as the most productive team approach to accomplishing LECOM’s mission.

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the pathway and report to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy;
  • Facilitate the success of the faculty members delivering the pathway by assisting them toward goals related to teaching, service, and scholarship. This includes conducting annual evaluations, assigning duties, monitoring productivity, providing mentorship, and facilitating programming for faculty development;
  • Works with Dean to develop academic calendar and coordination of curriculum schedule for Florida students;
  • Facilitate faculty placement into practice sites;
  • Recruit and orient new faculty members as needed;
  • Facilitate the development of policies for standardization of certain aspects of the delivery of the pathway in order to enhance the quality of the educational experience for the benefit of the students;
  • Interact with the students of the pathway to learn their perspective in order to modify policies or mentor faculty toward improving student performance;
  • Communicate with students to help them understand the rationale and benefit of the ways in which the pathway is delivered. Oversee the enforcement of LECOM’s expectations of students within the pathway;
  • Oversee the Director of Experiential Education for the pathway;
  • Serve ex. officio on committees that are important for the administration of the pathway, as determined by the Dean;
  • Work with directors and committee chairs in the administration of their roles relative to the pathway;
  • Recommend updates and modification of guiding documents of the School of Pharmacy for areas relevant to the pathway, including the faculty handbook, student handbook, and academic catalog;
  • Attend administrative meetings such as: President’s monthly administrative staff meeting, scholarship auction, weekly campus administrative meeting, and student status meeting with student affairs staff;
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities with the Assistant Dean of Assessment through active involvement in assessment and accreditation activities;
  • Ensure compliance with ACPE Standards related to the role and contribute to the compliance and reporting of all ACPE standards with regard to the designated pathway;
  • Serve as a faculty member within the School of Pharmacy including contributions in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship;
  • Promotes and preserves the mission of LECOM;
  • Acts as departmental representative with faculty, staff, students, and visitors in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes;
  • Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
  • Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
  • Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and
  • Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institution’s needs.
