The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Ambulatory Care.  The faculty member will hold a clinical appointment at Hunterdon Medical Center (HMC) in Flemington, New Jersey.

singleThe Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration focuses on the clinical and regulatory aspects of pharmacy practice. The mission of the Department is to participate in the preparation of students to provide pharmaceutical care in its varied practice settings. Graduating students are equipped with the necessary skills to adapt to a changing healthcare environment. Students are also provided with scientific fundamentals, ethics, and attitudes necessary to adapt their careers to changes in healthcare over their lifetime. This mission supports the overall mission of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy in four critical areas: teaching, practice, scholarship, and service.

 

Hunterdon Medical Center (HMC) is a 178-bed community teaching hospital affiliated with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.  It is the only regional hospital in Hunterdon County, and compromises over 30 ambulatory health centers that make up the Hunterdon Healthcare System (HHS).  HHS special services include Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology.  The pharmacy department consists of 12 FTE pharmacists, 12 FTE technicians, 1 clinical faculty in Internal Medicine, 1 clinical faculty in Cardiology, 1 FTE ambulatory care clinical pharmacist, 1 FTE population health clinical pharmacist, 1 FTE infectious diseases clinical pharmacist, 1 FTE pharmacovigilance clinical pharmacist, 1 FTE transitions of care pharmacist, 1 FTE transitions of care home health pharmacist.  

 

This position is in Ambulatory Care.  The faculty member will develop and expand clinical practices at the family practice sites of the Hunterdon Health System.  

 

The Faculty member would be expected to provide comprehensive medication management for a wide variety of patients with chronic health conditions, other ambulatory care related services and medical staff education/development. The faculty would also be involved in the HMC’s pharmacy residency program and work with the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy to include the resident in teaching opportunities. The faculty member would be actively involved in HMC and HHS committees.
