Prisma Health, the largest not-for-profit health organization in South Carolina, seeks a Pharmacist to serve as a core faculty member for our Family Medicine Medical Residency Program (12 residents in a 4-4-4 model) affiliated with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Columbia. The program is located at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina, and conducts continuity clinical practice in partnership with a Federally Qualified Health Center, Tandem Health.  The Pharmacist will also participate in a PGY-1 outpatient pharmacy residency affiliated with the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and Tandem Health.

The Pharmacist faculty member will support training in pharmacotherapy, quality improvement projects, and scholarly activity. The position will include academic and clinical time, and there will be opportunities to precept pharmacy learners and collaborate with faculty at the School of Medicine and College of Pharmacy.

Sumter, located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Columbia, is a mid-sized community and a very attractive place to raise a family due to an affordable cost of living. It has a vital and growing downtown, as well as a growing industrial base and air force base.  Alongside this growth, Sumter has preserved a small-town feeling featuring tree lined streets and beautiful parks.  

The ideal candidate for this position at the time of hire is expected to:

  • Hold a professional degree in pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited College/School of Pharmacy
  • Have completed a PGY-1 residency or fellowship or have equivalent years of experience in the discipline
  • Be board certified or eligible and intent on pursuing
  • Be licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the state of South Carolina
