Overview:Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Staff Pharmacist evaluates physician orders for appropriateness, completes order verification, validates products prior to dispensing, and assists with inventory management at the Rock Island, Moline, and Bettendorf campuses. The Staff Pharmacist will provide direct patient care services and also serve as a resource for drug information to the medical and nursing staff.COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Requirement: It is required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza. Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

/TASKS:Assigned Duties: Review of medication orders and patient profiles for drug-drug interactions, drug-allergy interactions, and therapeutic/administration complications. Verifies orders in the hospital computer system. Completes medication dosing according to hospital policy when appropriate. Monitors patient lab data and clinical condition and makes appropriate drug therapy recommendations to medical staff based on assessment. Prepares or validates all products prior to dispensing. Maintains records as required by UnityPoint Health, state, and federal laws. Compounds extemporaneous products. Assists with inventory management. Verifies accuracy of tasks performed by Technicians. Works with pharmacy students to assist in their educational experience while at Trinity. Provides drug information to assist in patient care. Provides patient education. Participates in Quality Assurance activities for the department. Coordinates and monitors activity of the Technicians. Identifies operational problems and recommends solutions. Participates in the development of new programs or improvement of existing programs. Documents Unusual Occurrences when appropriate. Or any other duties as assigned. Department/Service Quality and Performance Improvement (PI) - Participates in depart quality improvement initiatives. Provide or facilitate reporting as required to support quality improvement initiatives. Provides suggestions to improve quality. Safety - Patient , EmployeE - Identifies potential or actual safety issues and bring them to the attention of management. Qualifications:

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:Must be a graduate of an approved College of Pharmacy with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:

Possess a comprehensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice, sterile compounding, and data processing systems. The ability to work well under periods of continued stress is also necessary. Must interact well with people, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATION:

Must be a Registered/Licensed Pharmacist in the States of Illinois and Iowa. New graduates will be classified as a Graduate Pharmacist until registration is obtained and will perform the duties of a Pharmacist under the immediate supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.#QC123
