This pain management pharmacist will support the inpatient pain service and the outpatient chronic pain rehabilitation clinic at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. In this role, the pain management pharmacist would support the practice through collaborative management of patients with acute and chronic pain, provision of specialized patient education, opioid tapering consultations, and transitions of care hand-off communications. Clinical services consist of collaborative practice with multidisciplinary teams, identification of drug-related problems, provision and documentation of recommendations through progress notes regarding optimization of drug therapy, medication reconciliation, transition of care planning, patient education, staff education, and direct patient care.  

Job responsibilities include drug therapy and disease monitoring, opioid stewardship, and utilization of collaborative practice agreements. The pain management pharmacist will be actively involved in the development of guidelines, protocols, and order sets.  Precepting of Mayo Clinic pharmacy and other disciplines’ learners is expected. Additionally, pharmacists are active members in quality improvement, research activities, and education. 

Involvement in scholarly activities including quality initiatives and multidisciplinary research is encouraged and supported through extensive institutional and departmental resources.  Opportunity for academic appointment at hiring and progression through appointment ranks with years of service of employment.  Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience includes at least two years of relevant pharmacy practice experience. Computer experience. Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and team work. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organize time well, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision.

**Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; also, Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program**  The following are preferred: Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency. Experience of working in a large, progressive academic medical center. History of scholarly activities including publication and scientific meeting presentations. Experience and / or interest in teaching.

Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and teamwork required. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organizes time well, practice with an agile mindset, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision required. The following are preferred:  

     * Previous experience including PGY2 residency or fellowship training in pain medicine, PGY1 training and 2 years' experience in pain management practice, or equivalent experience of 5 years in pain management practice 

     * Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations in pain medicine  

     * Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment  

     * Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting 

     * Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy Specialty (BCPS) 

License to practice Pharmacy in the State of Minnesota or eligibility for licensure.
