Director of Clinical Pharmacy

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, the Director of Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for analyzing and operationalizing initiatives for pharmaceutical utilization improvement and quality measure performance improvement. These initiatives include but are not limited to: drug utilization, clinical education and staff development, drug spend analysis, and quality improvement activities. The Director of Clinical Pharmacy is also responsible for the implementation of healthcare strategies and driving patient health outcome, and serves as a subject matter expert and resource to the organization.

Job Responsibilities

· Conducts data analysis to proactively identify quality and cost performance improvement opportunities

· Develops reports and strategies to enhance provider performance related to pharmacy utilization, cost and quality measures

· Develops educational materials to instruct providers on current medication trends, best practices and pharmaceutical- related opportunities for cost management and improvement of quality

· Reviews health plan pharmacy benefits, summarizes and educates providers on the health plan benefits

· Collaborates with health plans to ensure compliance with health plan formularies

· Works in conjunction with physician group leaders to develop clinical protocols that improve patient outcomes

· Develops strong working relationships with providers

· Meets regularly with individual providers, and participates in center and medical staff meetings

· Leads immunization campaigns, processes and purchasing

· Follows guidelines and procedures for all job responsibilities in order to meet goals

· Maintains current knowledge of pharmacy industry

· Adheres to company policies and procedures including all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· BS in Pharmacy or PharmD

· Current Pharmacist license as granted by the state of Florida.

· Experience with Managed Care Organizations preferred or understanding of managed care pharmaceutical operations and benefits

· Understanding of managed Medicare and Medicaid pharmaceutical benefits and operations

· Understanding of HEDIS and pharmacy related quality metrics

· Understanding of pharmacy claims data and financial data

· Strong knowledge of electronic medical record systems

· Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with all levels of organization personnel

· Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

· Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.

· Ability to problem solve and think analytically.
