GS-0660-15 – Supervisory Pharmacist (Clinical Pharmacy and Investigational Drug Research Services Service Chief)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center (CC) Pharmacy Department is seeking a highly motivated Senior Pharmacy Leader to provide department-wide leadership in Pharmaceutical Care to patients participating in protocols at the NIH, a federal research hospital. The NIH CC Pharmacy Department strives to exceed the expectations of patients, investigators, and workforce in an environment that provides the pharmacy staff with motivation, challenge, and professional growth. The position being recruited for is the Clinical Pharmacy and Investigational Drug Research Services Service Chief.

 

The successful candidate for this position will be an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Senior Pharmacy Leader with extensive experience in Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Research, to include performance and administrative outcomes. The Service Chief must demonstrate a mastery of patient care and understanding research methodologies, protocol design, implementation, and analysis. A Doctor of Pharmacy degree recognized by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and a Pharmacist License are required. For this position, the highly desired candidates will also have post-graduate year 1 and year 2 residency training, board certification, and 3 to 5 years of front-line leadership experience with an additional 3 to 5 years of mid to senior-level leadership experience.  Preferred candidate will have experience in the Federal system managing a complex and diverse portfolio of experiences.

 

The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team leading the department in Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Medication Safety, Informatics, and Procurement initiatives. This Service Chief position will collaborate with physician scientists conducting pioneering clinical research, while overseeing a staff of Clinical Pharmacy Specialists that provide pharmaceutical care for the patients enrolled in the clinical trials of multiple Institutes’ Intramural Research Programs. The Service Chief supports the research efforts of the NIH Intramural Research Program, including, but not limited to participation in the design and conduct of clinical trials and Institutional Review Board, Drug Safety and Monitoring Board, and Safety Monitoring Committee membership. This support includes providing managerial oversight and guidance to the investigational drug service to facilitate the implementation of Institute protocols through the Pharmacy Department. The Service Chief shares responsibility for educating future pharmacist and physician scientists through traditional lectures and experiential precepting of students, residents and fellows.

 

 

 

This position is in the Office of the Chief within the Pharmacy Department, Clinical Center (CC). The Pharmacy Department offers state-of-the-art services in an ultra-modern facility.  The NIH Clinical Research Center is located on a 300-acre college-like campus and serves as the hospital for the NIH Intramural Research Program of the NIH’s 27 Institutes and Centers. The Service Chief will work with research care teams from several NIH institutes

 

Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the U.S., the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree that meets the minimum educational requirements as described in the vacancy announcement on USAJOBS.
