The Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for collaborating with managers and staff of the Pharmacy to optimize clinical and operational pharmacy services as a service line leader for acutely ill general medicine patients throughout the healthcare system. The Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for providing direct patient care by proactively impacting pharmacotherapeutic decisions through interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff participating in the care of general medicine patients throughout the healthcare system. In addition, the Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for contributing to the educational initiatives of the health-system including, but not limited to, staff development and student and resident precepting. The Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will also be responsible for managing quality improvement and research projects in area of specialty.
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- PGY2 Internal Medicine or Pharmacotherapy Residency
- One year of experience as a health-system pharmacist
- Current license with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy or eligible – will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist until license obtained
- Three to five years’ experience as a health-system pharmacist
- Board certification in area of specialty (Pharmacotherapy)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
