Summary of Duties:

Washington State University (WSU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmacotherapy, is seeking to hire (1) full-time, annual, non-tenure track, 12- month position, for a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor (Career Track). The clinical site for this position is the MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington. This position is co-located on the WSU campus in Spokane within the Department of Pharmacotherapy. The faculty member will be expected to spend a portion of their time on the WSU Spokane campus (approximately a 5–10-minute commute from the hospital).

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and maintenance of an innovative transitions of care practice
  • Development of a program of scholarship
  • Supervision of pharmacy students during clinical rotations
  • Didactic instruction.

 

Individuals with a strong commitment to an academic career and an interest in innovative teaching and clinical practice models are encouraged to apply. The faculty member will be expected to contribute scholarly work in their area of clinical expertise and support the college through participation in service-related activities according to the College's Promotion Guidelines. This is a one (1) year renewable appointment with a preferred start date of July 1, 2022. Subsequent renewals are subject to satisfactory performance, mutual consent, and available funding.

 

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a PharmD and have residency and/or fellowship training in one or more of the following areas: teaching, general pharmacy practice, ambulatory care, internal medicine or family medicine. Equivalent training and/or experience will be considered.  Eligibility for Washington pharmacist licensure required.  This position has been designated by the department to require a background check. 

 

Position Specific Qualifications (prior completion or within 30 days of hire):

  • Blood borne pathogen training
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers
  • APhA immunization certificate
  • Completion of mandatory WSU training as outlined by the university and the department.
  • CITI training recommended (WSU IRB)
  • WA pharmacist licensure

 

Department:

The WSU campus in Spokane houses the main office of the Department of Pharmacotherapy. The department supports WSU-affiliated residency programs at clinical sites in Spokane, Yakima, and Wenatchee. It also supports the doctor of pharmacy program at our extension campus in Yakima. The department integrates Yakima's clinical faculty members into all aspects of the college, including team-taught courses and precepting students during their advanced practice experiences. Site:

The clinical practice associated with this position would have a focus on transitions of care. This work would include the development, institution, and assessment of interventions whose goals are to improve the quality of care and lower rates of hospital readmission within the MultiCare system in Spokane.

 

Founded in 1896, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital has a legacy of providing outstanding care to the Inland Northwest. This 388-bed facility offers high-quality inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic imaging, medical, surgical and emergency services. As an acute care hospital, we have a Level III Trauma Center, a Certified Chest Pain Center, a Certified Total Joint Restoration Center, an accredited Primary Stroke Center and is the only hospital in the area to be nationally accredited in bariatric surgery. Deaconess also features a Maternal Fetal Medicine program and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
