The University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy/NorthShore University HealthSystem PGY2 Clinical Pharmacogenomics Residency Program is seeking a full time, motivated professional for the position of PGY2 Clinical Pharmacogenomics Resident to start on July 1, 2022, for the 2022-2023 residency year. The main training focus of the residency program is pharmacogenomics, but the program is also designed to ensure the resident obtains clinical training and experience in internal medicine.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping manage clinical pharmacogenomics services and implementation initiatives at both the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics and NorthShore Evanston Hospital. This residency program will ultimately prepare the resident to be a leader in clinical and practice-based implementation of pharmacogenomics in various healthcare settings. To accomplish this, the UIC-NorthShore PGx resident will have unique opportunities to gain clinical (internal medicine specialties), implementation, informatics, project, teaching, education, and research experiences in a top-10 nationally ranked college of pharmacy, academic medical center, and community health care system settings. The residency year will be divided into four quarterly blocks where the PGx resident will alternate their primary time between UIC and NorthShore. The majority of the resident’s time will be spent in clinical practice/education efforts.

Originally established in 2013, the residency program was relaunched in 2020 as the nation’s first dual-site PGY-2 clinical pharmacogenomics residency program to capitalize on the strengths of two institutions with national reputations in clinical pharmacogenomics practice, implementation, expansion, education, and research. Our program’s patient care mission is to improve health equity and quality by making pharmacogenetic testing and PGx-driven treatment available to the diverse inner-city and suburban patient communities our institutions serve.

Qualifications:

• PharmD and PGY1 residency experience required. Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist at time of employment. Authorization to work in the United States effective through the entire length of the residency training program (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2203). Highly preferred: proactive; teamwork-oriented; strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
