Job Responsibilities and Duties: Manchester University College of Pharmacy, Natural and Health Sciences in Fort Wayne, Indiana is seeking qualified individuals for a 12-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Acute Care specialties which will be considered include pediatrics and infectious disease. The primary responsibilities will be in the areas of teaching (3/3), service and scholarship.  Clinical practice will be incorporated into all three areas.  This position will report to the Chair of Pharmacy Practice.

Essential Job Functions:   

Reporting to the Pharmacy Practice Department Chair, all faculty members will be responsible for:

  • Creating, delivering, and assessing instruction and its effectiveness for student learning in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, both in the classroom and at the designated practice site; Developing and maintaining an innovative and transformational clinical practice in acute care at a designated practice site; precept students at that site and develop a program of research/scholarship as evidenced by professional presentations, publications, and/or grants. Participate in faculty governance, contribute to the service needs of the college, serve on various committees, participate in the accreditation process, and participate fully in the co-curricular activities within the College. Maintain professional effectiveness including but are not limited to: professional scholarship, intellectual integrity; professional currency; cooperation in all phases of the academic program; openness to learn about and adopt improved methods of teaching, and above all, a vital interest in student learning. Developing visibility as an acute care practitioner within local, state, and national organizations. Work in a professional, collegial, and team-oriented manner within the College and University communities. Maintain compliance with policies and procedures in the Manchester University and Pharmacy Program handbooks. Engaging in service to the profession and community. Provide academic advising/mentoring for Pharm.D. students and support their personal and professional development.

Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree Successful completion of two years of residency, one of which is a PGY2 in an acute care specialty. or equivalent clinical experience. Must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Indiana Previous academic experience of at least 3 years is highly desirable. Demonstrated commitment to the value of intellectual and cultural diversity. Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Outstanding clinical and leadership skills Strong commitment to interprofessional education in the health sciences. Ability to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives with the medical communities of northeast Indiana. Demonstrated commitment to the value of intellectual and cultural diversity. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, in the best interests of students, possess a style that emphasizes openness, consultation, and shared governance. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and respond to students’ legitimate needs in a timely fashion. Strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the College in a progressive, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner. Professional appearance and the ability to interact effectively with persons at all organizational levels are essential. Must be highly self-directed, well organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable completing tasks with a minimum of direct supervision. Must be able to adhere to and maintain confidentiality as required by the institution and laws governing education and patient care. Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 12-month exempt position with hours that may include some evenings and weekends. Onsite classes are generally scheduled between 8 am and 5 pm.  Some classes, laboratories, events, and/or meetings may be scheduled in the evening or on weekends.
