The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of Director of Finance. The College of Pharmacy sets a national standard of excellence in pharmaceutical research, education, and clinical practice. Founded in 1859, the College is the oldest academic unit of the University of Illinois System. The College is currently ranked 7th in the nation by US News and World Report and is among the largest and most comprehensive pharmacy practice programs in the nation, including faculty practitioners in essentially all clinical specialties and preceptors in more than 900 diverse pharmacy practices sites. The College is among the top national tier of pharmacy schools for student diversity, faculty publications, patient care and outreach programs, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

 

The College of Pharmacy is looking for an individual to provide leadership and management of the College of Pharmacy fiscal operations and oversee financial and budgetary operations for the ambulatory and clinical pharmacy enterprise. Duties:

 

  • Develop, implement, and monitor annual financial operations and capital budgets for the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services unit.  Areas of responsibility include: Accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, cost accounting, and revenue cycle (charge capture, denial reduction, and reimbursement optimization) to optimize savings and revenue and maintain compliance across UI Health. Oversee and manage college and department finance staff and is accountable for financial management, principles, and business processes. Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.  Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives. Define, develop, shape and implements policy and procedures including but not limited to budget development and financial management, funds flow oversight, budget modeling/forecasting, resource allocation, operational policies and procedures, and data management. Advise on budget and financial policy and procedures; provide business and financial oversight; monitor and guide in maintaining compliance and fiscal responsibility; maintain compliance with university, state, federal and professional standards Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and present to various constituents including College, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Ambulatory Pharmacy and Hospital leadership. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs in providing oversight and control of the college budget and allocation of resources for appropriate faculty and staff compensation, start-up funding and reallocation of funds. Establish metrics, analyze, and leverage data and best practice insights during action planning, respond to professional association and accreditation surveys, and prepare internal and external administrative reports on topics such as labor and economic data, financial modeling to achieve capital projects, trends and forecasting. Represent the college to university and system-level financial units; serve on key department, college and campus committees. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, healthcare administration or related field required.  Master’s degree in finance, business or accounting preferred.

 

A minimum of five years financial management experience required, including experience as a financial administrator preferably in higher education, healthcare, or clinical operations.

 

Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal policies and procedures, financial systems, and experience with data analytical tools required.

 

Experience/training in generally accepted accounting practices and project management required. 

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

 

Demonstrated knowledge in pharmacy finance processes, particularly with pharmacy programs and systems (i.e. 340B programs, EPIC, Macrohelix, clinical revenue cycle management) preferred.

 

Active membership in a recognized professional finance association preferred.
