The Department of Pharmaceutical Services at WVU Medicine- J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is recruiting for a full-time clinical pharmacy specialist to support pharmaceutical cost-savings, revenue optimization, and formulary projects in the hematology, oncology, and ambulatory areas of care. Performs and assists clinicians in the execution of medication use evaluation and benchmarking. Provides assistance in coordinating enterprise P&T subcommittee initiatives and reviews.

  • Conducts on-going monitoring of medication utilization to ensure cost-effective medication use when compared to both internal and external benchmarks
  • Oversees clinical drug reviews and therapeutic class reviews for formulary evaluation
  • Collaborate with pharmacy clinical subject matter experts to develop and implement sound medication protocols and policies
  • Support clinical programs that improve the quality and costs of pharmaceutical care
  • Works with informatics team to ensure coordination of order sets and decision support tools to reflect current formulary
  • Assess peer-reviewed medical literature, including randomized clinical trials (especially drug comparison studies), pharmacoeconomic studies, and outcomes research data to assist with formulary decision-making
  • Monitors new drug developments and assists with assessment of impact and budget forecasting
  • Uses analytical methods to ensure reported data is meaningful and accurate.
  • Demonstrates technical ability in data analytics using various systems and tools such as Epic Workbench, Microsoft Office Suite, and Web Intelligence
  • Maintains professional competence by attending and presenting at conferences, continuing educational programs, reading current professional literature and publishing clinical or practice-related experience or research.
  • Participates in administrative, quality assurance, performance improvement, and clinical research activities within the department.

This position will be scheduled to work primarily Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and be based at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, the flagship hospital of WVU Medicine, is a 710-bed academic medical center located in Morgantown, WV. The site is The Joint Commission-accredited and Magnet-certified. It contains a level I Trauma Center and a Children's Hospital with a Level III Neonatal Care. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy is required.

BPS board certification is preferred. PGY-2 residency in oncology, ambulatory care, drug information or equivalent experience preferred.
