The MGH Department of Pharmacy is seeking a Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services with advanced clinical and management/leadership training and experiences to innovate and advance a clinical pharmacy practice model for acute and ambulatory care services. This position reports directly to the Chief Pharmacy Officer and has responsibility for direct supervision of clinical pharmacy services staff including clinical pharmacy manager and clinical pharmacists (>50 FTEs).
Overall Director responsibilities include:
- Creating a vision for innovative clinical pharmacy services and advancements in national pharmacy best practices across the organization
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate competent and advanced trained clinical pharmacy staff
- Coordinate medication cost containment and cost saving initiatives and strategies for the department
- Lead interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize medication therapy for quality of care and medication safety for all MGH patients
- Develop and implement treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways as approved by appropriate committees
Potential additional opportunities exist with the following groups:
- Collaboration with Mass General Brigham hospitals (eg. Brigham & Women’s) and the Mass General Brigham Center for Drug Use Policy
- Expansion of the MGH Pharmacy Residency Program
- Teaching opportunities at the Northeastern University and Massachusetts Colleges of Pharmacy
- Direct relationship with Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT)
- Clinical pharmacy training for area pharmacy students and MGH pharmacy residents
- Participate in research activities ongoing within MGH
