Description:

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications for a Bridge to Faculty Research Scholar position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice starting August 16, 2022.

Program Goals: The Bridge to Faculty Research Scholars program seeks to advance diversity among our faculty by encouraging the recruitment, retention, and promotion of outstanding scholars from different backgrounds, with an emphasis on attracting individuals from groups who have been historically underrepresented in science. The goal of this program is to recruit, mentor, and support the transition of outstanding candidates from postdoctoral Research Scholar to research active, tenure track faculty members. In addition to mentorship within the Department of Pharmacy Practice, the Bridge to Faculty Research Scholar will participate in a cohort-based mentoring experience through the UIC Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, where they will have the opportunity to meet other Bridge to Faculty Scholars. Successful scholars may be appointed for a second postdoctoral year. After completing the 2-year program, successful postdoctoral scholars, with department approval, may have the opportunity to transition to a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Located in downtown Chicago, UIC is a comprehensive, urban, public, Research 1 university and among the nation’s top five most diverse campuses with a strong tradition of support for difference and equality.
