The Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration (DPPA) at the Missouri State University (MSU) site of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Pharmacy (SOP) is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track, 12-month faculty position. The position at the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor rank will support the educational and the patient care missions of the UMKC SOP and Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield, Missouri.

The successful candidate will provide pharmacy patient care services as a member of an interprofessional care team responsible for the clinical pharmacotherapeutic care of oncology patients admitted to a private, community hospital. Clinical responsibilities include providing quality, innovative pharmacy services focused on the internal medicine and supportive care needs of hospitalized oncology patients to improve outcomes and achieve benchmarks. Duties also include patient education, medication adherence activities, and interdisciplinary education. Academic responsibilities include precepting, didactic lecturing, interprofessional education, elective course instruction and/or development, skills-based assessment, and mentoring pharmacy residents. Scholarly productivity is expected. Service to the SOP, the DPPA, and UMKC through participation in faculty meetings, service on committees, and to the profession through participation in state and national professional organizations is expected.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient care skills are essential. Candidates should also possess a collegial approach to their work; a passion for practice and education and a desire to produce scholarly works. Candidates must have earned the Pharm. D. with post-doctoral residency and/or fellowship training or equivalent experience and be eligible for Missouri licensure. Candidates with management of oncology patients, a PGY2 or equivalent experience are preferred.

The UMKC SOP’s mission is to educate, innovate, discover, engage, and serve to improve health. The branch site at MSU provides access to an in-state, public pharmacy program for students residing in southwest Missouri and seeks to serve the region by educating and training student pharmacists and augment pharmacy practice and services in rural areas. Founded in 1891, Mercy Hospital Springfield is an 886-bed hospital that serves the region and northwest Arkansas and is the second largest hospital in a large health system that serves a four-state region. The hospital is a Level I Trauma Center with a dedicated comprehensive Cancer Center holds several national accreditations including as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Program, a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, and a Lung Cancer Screening Center of Excellence by leading national cancer organizations. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team that includes board certified oncology pharmacists and practices on a dedicated oncology unit in the hospital.
