In Pharmacy Practice and Science
The University of Nebraska Medical Center
College of Pharmacy
Omaha, NE

Description:  The UNMC College of Pharmacy invites applications for a 12-month, clinical non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science.  This position offers unique and exciting opportunities to advance the profession through innovative ambulatory/primary care practice, teaching, scholarship, and service. The clinic location is at OneWorld Community Health Center, Omaha, Nebraska — a federally qualified health center (FQHC) and patient centered medical home (PCMH) committed to providing high quality, affordable primary care in a culturally respectful manner with a passion for the underserved. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate and expand existing clinical pharmacy services by: 1) leading a multidisciplinary team of case managers, nurses, behavioral health counselors, diabetes educators and dieticians focusing on the management of chronic diseases (e.g. mental illness, hypertension or diabetes), 2) developing telemedicine clinical pharmacy services to provide support to satellite clinics, 3) participating in ongoing performance improvement activities focused on improving patient clinical outcomes, 4) collaborating with OneWorld’s outpatient pharmacy staff to coordinate care, and 5) providing periodic continuing education programs to medical providers at OneWorld. Teaching responsibilities include instruction in didactic courses at UNMC and clinical instruction of pharmacy students on experiential rotations. This position offers a unique learning environment for students by providing exposure to cross-cultural diversity in an underserved population while working within a multidisciplinary team. The Department and OneWorld seek a dynamic individual that has a passion for ambulatory/primary care. The position requires the establishment of a successful practice within OneWorld Clinics located within the greater Omaha metropolitan area. Teaching is expected and will include coordination and instruction of courses in the professional curriculum and clinical instruction of pharmacy students in experiential rotations. Scholarly activity directly related to practice or teaching is also required. The position will support the Profession, The College of Pharmacy, OneWorld, and Department through service to committees and professional organizations.

Qualifications: Candidates who share our commitment to innovative teaching and practice, exceptional research, and leadership are encouraged to apply. Candidates must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and have completed a post-graduate year 2 residency in ambulatory care (or equivalent experience). Must be eligible for pharmacy practice licensure in Nebraska. Obtaining board certification is expected. Excellent written and verbal communication and personal skills are required. Although not required, bilingual speaking practitioners (English/Spanish) are encouraged to apply. The faculty member will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science and be provided with a competitive salary.
