Overview:

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) invites applications for two open rank Assistant, Associate or Full Professor positions within the Department of Biomedical Sciences starting as soon as Fall 2021. Successful candidates will share responsibilities for medical student education in basic and/or clinical pharmacology. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of educators committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and scholarship who are enthusiastic to mentor junior faculty. WMed is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty and the Biomedical Sciences Department and encourages candidates from underrepresented groups in higher education to apply. Postdoctoral fellows are also encouraged to apply.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until both positions are filled.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Responsibilities for this position include teaching pharmacology content throughout the preclinical years (M1 and M2), as well as serving as the director of a 4-6 week course within an integrated organ-based foundational biomedical science curriculum for medical students. Additional teaching opportunities may exist within the Masters of Biomedical Sciences, core clinical clerkships and/or graduate medical curriculum. The successful candidate will have a clear interest in teaching.
  • Scholarship: Successful candidates will be expected to engage in scholarly activities that result in publications and professional presentations. WMed recognizes innovative teaching and scholarship as a basis for promotion. Scholarly work currently performed in the department ranges from medical education to bench and clinical research. Opportunities may be available for PharmD and MD applicants to engage in clinical service and/or clinical research appropriate to training and licensure.
  • Service: Participation in department and institutional service is expected.

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must have a PharmD, PhD, and/or MD degree. Clinical experience and experience teaching in a clinical environment is desirable but not required.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) is an exciting environment to pursue and academic career.
