The Director of Medication Safety and Policy reports to the TUHS Chief Pharmacy Officer and collaborates closely with organizational leaders to continually improve health system-wide medication use processes and systems. Serves as a subject matter expert for the TUH, Inc. health system in medication safety, quality, regulatory preparation and policy while implementing safest possible medication use processes. Collaborates with pharmacy administration, risk management, quality/performance improvement and clinical leaders across the system to perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) prior to implementing new processes and root cause analysis (RCA) on near-miss/medication related incidents. Acts as a key advisor to the Medication Practices Committee, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and PI/Patient Safety Committee of TUH, Inc. Accountable for compliance with Medication Management Standards across the health system for continual survey readiness from regulatory agencies (TJC, DOH, USP, DOH, CMS, etc). Responsible for maintenance of health system wide medication use safety policies and practices.

Education

Bachelors Degree : Pharmacy or PharmD (Required)
Masters Degree: in Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy Administration, or related field (Preferred)
Other: Residency in Pharmacy Practice or Specialty/Fellowship in Medication Safety (Preferred)

Experience

3 Years experience in health system medication safety with 1-3 years as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (Required)
General Experience in clinical pharmacy practice in a multi-hospital integrated delivery network academic medical center (Preferred)
General Experience in project management and quality/performance improvement techniques (e.g. LEAN, Six Sigma, etc) (Preferred)
General experience in detailed event reviews, RCA, FMEA, process and healthcare improvement (Preferred)

License/Certifications

RPH-LIC - PA Pharmacist License (Required)
BCPS - Cert Pharmacotherapy Spec (Preferred)
